Visual Arts

Visual Art at our school, led by Antoinette Willis, is a vibrant creative space where students explore the four strands of the New Zealand Arts Curriculum: Understanding the Arts in Context, Developing Practical Knowledge, Developing Ideas, and Communicating and Interpreting. As a practicing artist in her own right, Antoinette brings a wealth of professional insight and technical mastery to the classroom, guiding students through a diverse range of media including painting, printmaking, and sculpture. Our programme encourages students to respond to the world around them by researching the work of established artists from Aotearoa and abroad, using these influences to inform their own unique creative journeys. Antoinette fosters an environment where students are encouraged to take artistic risks, refine their technical skills, and develop a personal visual language that reflects their own identity and place in the world.
