Kapa Haka/Pasifika

Cultural Excellence at Devon Intermediate
At Devon Intermediate, Friday mornings are a highlight of the week, dedicated to Kapa Haka and Pasifika. We pride ourselves on being a school where culture is celebrated and every student has the opportunity to find their voice.

Te Kapa Haka o Devon Intermediate
Led by our tutor CJ, our Kapa Haka rōpū is a powerhouse of mana and pride. Our students represent Devon at major events throughout the year, from welcoming new whānau at our Information Evenings to performing at Puanga and much more.

We carry a legacy of excellence on the stage—most notably, we are the proud 2025 winners of Tatarakihi. Under CJ’s guidance, students develop leadership, discipline, and a deep connection to te ao Māori.

Pasifika Performance
Our Pasifika group, led by Miss T, brings the incredible energy and spirit of the Pacific Islands to life. These sessions are all about live performance, storytelling, and celebrating the diverse cultures of our Pasifika students. Miss T fosters a space of vibrant creativity where students can master traditional movements and share their heritage with the community.

Both groups meet every Friday, and we welcome all students to participate. Whether you are looking to connect with your roots or learn something entirely new, there is a place for you to stand tall.
