An Education Review Office (ERO) report is an independent, external evaluation that provides a picture of a school’s performance, culture, and commitment to student success. As a New Zealand government department, ERO reviews how well we support student achievement, maintain a safe and inclusive environment, and manage our leadership and governance, among other things. We view these reports as a valuable "professional health check" that ensures we are meeting high standards while identifying opportunities for continuous improvement. Ultimately, it offers our parents, whānau, and community an objective, transparent look at the quality of education and care we provide for every learner at Devon Intermediate.
Our latest ERO report has now been published, highlighting many wonderful aspects of life across our kura. In particular, the report notes strong academic progress in Reading and Maths, excellent attendance, high student engagement, and a strong sense of belonging, alongside our comprehensive support for students with additional needs. We were also delighted by the heartening feedback regarding our school leadership and teaching practices. While the report identified Writing as an area for development, this is something we had already recognised and are actively working on across both year levels. Moving forward, our School Board will use these findings to help inform our strategic planning for 2027 and 2028.
