Central to the heart of Devon is MANA, our school-wide framework for positive behavior and culture. Built on the nationwide Positive Behaviour for Learning (PB4L) model, MANA is the "Devon Way" of doing things. It provides a common language for our staff, students, and whānau, creating a predictable and supportive environment where everyone knows exactly how to succeed. We don’t just hope for good behavior; we teach it with the same care and intention as any academic subject. Through clear expectations and constant positive reinforcement, we ensure our school is a place where every student feels safe, respected, and ready to learn.

The MANA system is powered by four core values that guide our daily lives: Respect, Diligence, Integrity, and Service. These aren't just words on a wall; they are lived out every day. Our staff model these values in every space, and we use a "Teach, Practise, Revisit" approach to ensure everyone stays on track. From start-of-year refreshers to quick "pre-correction" reminders before busy transition times, we empower our students to be able to say—and more importantly, show—what MANA looks like in action.

We love to celebrate when our students get it right! Our MANA Tracking and Reward System turns positive choices into tangible achievements. Students earn MANA Tickets for demonstrating our weekly focus, which they can trade in for prestigious milestones: from Bronze Badges and MANA drink bottles to the ultimate Honours Badge and a special lunch with the Principal at a local café. Twice a term, we hold MANA Reward Days for those consistently meeting expectations, turning school pride into a celebration. Even when things go off track, we use a Restorative Approach, focusing on reflection and "putting things right" to maintain strong relationships. At Devon, through our data-driven MANA system, we are constantly refining our support to ensure every student has the best possible environment to shine.
