Welcome to Room 20 for 2020!
Kia ora room 20 students and whānau
My name is Floyd Pahi and I’m the new teacher for room 20. It has been an unique way to start the term, for all of us. Thank you to those students and their whānau whom I’ve already met (online), you have made me feel very welcome.
A little bit about myself: I am from a small town called Taumarunui, which is mainly farmland, so I love fishing, hunting and being out on the farm. After I left Taumarunui I moved to Palmerston North where I have spent the last 8 years, most of which I have been teaching and coaching sport. Rugby is my main sport I play but I have coached and taught almost every sport you could think of. Aside from that I just enjoy spending time with friends and whānau.
I recently moved to New Plymouth at the end of last year and I have a lot of friends and whānau that grew up here, many who were ex students at Devon. So I am really excited to be starting at Devon and I look forward to getting to know everyone.
In terms of our online learning, we have been using Google Classroom, our class code is : 4ussst3 (you must be signed into a devonint.school.nz email address to access the Google Classroom). There is also the Tech/Arts Google Classroom with more activities and learning available – class code z7tqf2k.
Students have been sharing their work with me and on our Google Classroom – please keep doing this, it’s awesome to see the amazing learning happening at home.
As we navigate through this term, potentially moving through different levels as decided by the Government, and making the appropriate changes, it is going to be important to stay in touch. Parents are welcome to email me on firstname.lastname@example.org
Take care and stay safe
Mr Floyd Pahi
