Welcome to Room 13 for 2020
Dear Room 13 Whanau
It was lovely to catch up with so many at the Pathways and Planning meetings at the end of last term. I am available to do catch up meetings next week on Monday 3rd August and Thursday 6th August from 3:15 until 4:15 for those who were unable to attend. Please send me a text of a note in your child’s Diary.
It was a very long, tiring term last term and I really appreciated the holidays. I spent most of it in Wellington with my sister and daughter, catching up and resting. My Mum is now in a rest home and we had to sell our family home last term. It involved finding homes for more than 60 years of accumulated memories, treasures and horded possessions. As you could imagine it was both emotional and very time consuming.
We are off to a flying start with the Production this term and students are working hard to learn dances, songs and lines, as well as make props. We look forward to seeing you all at one of the performances in Week 7. It will be a wonderful time to remember for those involved.
Our focus for this term is resilience, so we can all cope with change and uncertainty in our lives. Talking to your child about how to manage change and persevere, rather than giving up, would help to reinforce our learning in class. We are working on “STOP and Think” as well, to try to give the brains time to catch up with our emotions; rather than reacting we act.
Thank you for your continued support of your child by ensuring they complete Homework on time and have their Diary, P.E. gear and correct uniform daily. It sets them up for a positive start to the day and enables us to get on with learning.
Yours sincerely Glen Phillips
