Nau mai haere mai ki 2022

Kia ora Whanau

This is a pre start newsletter so that all Devon Intermediate whanau know the procedures and requirements when we start back next week under the COVID RED setting.

Firstly, a huge welcome to our new students and their families and we look forward to having you as part of the Devon Whanau. Also, welcome back to our Year 8’s, we are looking forward to seeing you all again.

Normally we would welcome new students with a Powhiri on their first day, Wednesday 2nd February. This, however, cannot happen and students will be welcomed with a Whakatau in their House Teams. Sadly, we cannot have parents attend this event due to the gathering restrictions and we ask that you drop your child at the gate, either Bonithon Ave or Devon Street West. We will have staff out ready to greet them and explain where they have to go.

Year 8 students are to meet on the top Basketball court (by the pool) by 8.40am to be put in to their class groups and Year 7 students are to meet on the bottom Basketball Courts (opposite the Hall) also by 8.40am.

I strongly suggest that students bring their stationery with them on Pathway and Planning Days, when you meet with their 2022 teacher, so that they don’t have to carry it on Wednesday. If you have not made an appointment for a meeting, you can do so by logging on to our Skool Loop App or by ringing the school office, 06 758 5266.

When attending the Planning and Pathway meetings, both you and your child will be required to be masked and you will need to scan in using our QR codes. If you do not know where your child’s class is, please come to the school office so we can show you where the class is.

On the first day, we will need the students to bring with them named drink bottles as the fountains are not allowed to be used, as well as their hat, swimming togs/towel. Devon Intermediate is a Lunches in School participant so lunches will be provided for your child. If your child has any food allergies or religious food practices, please advise the school office or the class room teacher when you come in for your Planning and Pathways meeting.

It is a requirement under the COVID RED setting that all students are masked from Year 4 going forward. We ask that students please come to school with a mask in preparation to wear in the classroom.

A reminder that full school uniform is required by all students and that cell phones MUST be handed to the classroom teacher and they will be sent to the office for safe keeping.

Nga mihi
