With the announcement that we are moving to Level 2, we just wanted to outline our protocols and expectations at Devon Intermediate.

Classes will be running on the normal timetable with all children expected in class at 8.40am and finishing at 3 pm with the exception of Tuesdays where we finish at 2.30 as normal.

We have processes and procedures in place to ensure your child’s continued health and safety at school. We do ask that if your child is in the slightest bit ill, that they DO NOT come to school. Please notify the school on the absence line. We also ask that children are reminded to adhere to social distancing where they can and that they don’t congregate at the school gates.

Due to the seriousness of COVID 19 and in order to ensure the physical and mental wellbeing of both students and staff, we will be introducing the following procedure:

Any student who coughs or spits at others, or who claims to have COVID 19, will be sent home immediately and will not be allowed to return to school until they produce a clear COVID test.

We understand that some students can make silly comments, but in the current pandemic climate, we will be having a zero-tolerance approach to COVID-related bullying or claims.

We will have the drinking fountains blocked off and ask that students bring their own named drink bottle from home.

The lunch in-school programme will continue as normal.

In the event you need to visit the school office if your query cannot be addressed over the phone or by email, can you please ensure you practice social distancing. We do have the floor marked in order to help you with this.

In the event that your child is staying home due to the need to self-isolate or because they come from a home where someone is vulnerable, we will be providing hard pack resources that will correspond with the in-class programme. We ask that you contact your child’s class teacher so we can organise this.

Hopefully, this will be a very short time at COVID Level 2 and we can resume school at Level 1.

Thanking you for your support in this matter and if you have any queries, please feel free to contact me at school.

Nga mihi
Jenny Gellen
