Why Academy Classes?
ACADEMIES OF LEARNING
A SPECIAL FEATURE OF DEVON INTERMEDIATE
What is an Academy?
Academy classes are a special feature of Devon Intermediate. Students and teachers are carefully chosen according to their strengths and interests. Planning, teaching and learning across the curriculum is guided by the type of academy. As in other classrooms there is an emphasis on core subjects of Numeracy and Literacy.
At Devon Intermediate we believe that students learn best in an environment that stimulates their areas of interest. Research and data collated strongly emphasises that students in Academy Classes have a higher rate of attendance, are more engaged, and achieve better academic results.
In 2009 we are offering every student a place in an Academy Class.
