A big thank you to our wonderful Sports Academy leaders for the first half of 2010.  Thanks for all your work Savanagh and Bailey.  Congratulations to Rebekah Beneen and Joachim Faga who are our Sports Academy leaders for the 2nd half of the year.

Looking Ahead

Sport Exchanges – We have a number of winter sport exchanges against schools this term. (Hawera week 2 and Highlands week 6).  Mokoia Intermediate from Rotorua will be visiting week 4.  A large number of students went there last year so will be a neat opportunity to catch up with friends they made while away.

Lunchtime Interclass Challenge: Rippa Rugby

Cross Country – The students have started their training for the cross country. The standard competition will run in week 7 and the championships in week 8.

Learning conferences will take part during week 6.  Would be great to see you there again for the last time!

We have a student teacher starting in our room in a few weeks time.  Her name is Laura Seed and she is a 2nd year student from Waikato.  We are lucky enough to have her for 6 weeks.

Curriculum: Term 3

Maths – Fractions, Decimals and Percentages/Statistics

Independent Reading – Unsolved Mysteries and Novels

Topic – Ancient Rome/Drugs and Alcohol

Writing – Explanations/Speeches

P.E – Cross Country/Gymnastics

Reminders:

  • School shoes should be black polishable shoes with navy blue socks or stockings.
  • Students should have their PE gear everyday.  If it is in the wash, then they need to bring a note and some other gear to wear.  A good idea is for students to bring along sneakers while we are training for cross country, the Burma trail can sometimes have sharp objects.
